The Advantages of Choosing Bespoke

Searching for that perfect gown or accessory is not an easy task. If there is something special that you have in mind, the bespoke process can turn your imagination into reality. Using couture methods and hand craftsmanship, we will work with you to create something truly unique, that fits beautifully and looks divine.

The bespoke option will:

  • provide a client centred experience,
  • provide specialist guidance regarding which silhouettes work with your shape and flatter your figure,
  • work outside of standard clothes sizes, perfect for tall, petit and plus-size ladies,
  • achieve an accurate fit, without the need for additional alterations,
  • allow for very specific, unique or vintage design requests,
  • involve you in the design process at each stage,
  • enable you to choose the exact shades and fabric textures for your special garment,
  • provide a delightful choice of embellishment components that include Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls and intricate laces.
  • provide private fittings with no shop-floor onlookers,
  • offer additional accessories, where necessary, to complete your look.

The Process

1. Consultation

This involves meeting together to:

  • discuss your needs and requirements
  • view any image references you may have collected
  • discuss dates and timelines
  • outline the bespoke process
  • view fabric options and discuss sampling
  • provide a broad price estimation

2. Drafting, toiling and ffirst ffitting

If you decide to go ahead, the next stage would involve:

  • taking personal measurements
  • calculating a personal draft from which to produce bespoke pattern pieces
  • the production of a calico toile to confirm final fit and design. At this stage, changes/adaptations can be made
  • final fabric selection and meterage calculations
  • the final quotation. This will include the fabric costings based on any design adjustments and based on your fabric choices

3. Production

Your commissioned garment will be hand made using couture methods. Before any fastenings, hems or embellishments are added you will be invited for a final fitting to check that there are no final adjustments required. More complex items may require more than one fitting at this stage.

4. Completion

This is the exciting stage and would involve:

  • adding the final fastenings, hems and embellishments
  • a collection fitting
  • advice on care and laundering
  • receiving a selection of photos of your finished item, should you want to add them to a wedding file, diary or memory book
  • optional provision of padded/wooden hangers and/or a garment storage cover
